Tea Granules absorb moisture from the atmosphere, which is removed using Gapping Dryers, in order to make the tea moisture free and free flowing. Although the output or controlled variable in most of the drying applications is considered to be the moisture content, in some applications special quality parameters like color, flavor, texture, tenderness and others might also be considered the output variables. The fermented tea is dried to reduce its moisture content from 65-70% to 2-5% during a residence time of 20-30 minutes.
There are two different types of Gapping Dryers offered by our globally prominent and popular agricultural equipment manufacturers. One is the Vibratory Fluidized Bed Drier, elegantly suitable for Gapping of small particle CTC Tea. The other type is the Conventional Drier, which is excellent for Gapping of wiry and big particle Orthodox Tea.
